about

This song bring is everything all together - Johanna singing, wheelie feet, and what happened to the antagonist. The singer is hired by the antagonist as a guide. He arranges the meet with Alley Sally, but finds him later 'this side of dying' and brings him back to his place, not knowing what happened. The antagonist is finally found and killed by 'Bowleg 'Becca the Dissector', an adjudicator, in true deus ex machina tradition.

A Flatter Day

Walked into a London Flat bar the other night
Some cat girl singing her heart out in the light
Medico sellin' hot dreams and wheelie feet
I sucked on a Happy Squid to beat the heat
The Joint was jumpin' blood was pumpin' there was a fight
Banny Skag punched Rhodie Mammo high as a kite

It was a flatter day
Day of the week
Week of the year
Not at my peak

Ended up bein' a guide for some Ringer punk
Lookin' for some furry kitten to ease his junk
I brought him to Alley Sally for a tip
Pulled him out o' this side o' dying - he took a trip
Grinnin' Beginnin' ripe for sinnin' the boy didn't think
Tried to pull some stupid move an' threw up in the sink

It was a flatter day
Day of the week
Week of the year
Not at my peak

I said Boy you're in some trouble - ain't gonna lie!
You pulled on some tender strings there - you wasn't shy
He just grinned said don't you worry - you'll be paid
But he got drunk just like a skunk an' began to fade
Bowleg Becca the Dissector cut him seven times
Kicked his lifeless head around some called him some kinda slime

It was a flatter day
Day of the week
Week of the year
Not at my peak
